Question 4- How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Above is a link to a Prezi presentation for question 4 because it will not embed into Blogger.

Question 3- What have you learned from your audience feedback?

For question three I have conducted a wide variety of ways to get audience feed back on both my ancillary texts and my music video. As part of this question I recorded and edited a video of Leanne Gelder giving answers to question I asked her and her overall opinion on mine and Beccy music video.I asked Leanne specifically as she suitable to my target audience, as she was eighteen years old who is places at B/C2 on the jicnar scale but as she is also a media student she was able to give a critical analysis which I found useful.

Steve Neale argued that genre is 'instances of repetition and difference,' Leanne was able to identify that my music video was of the pop genre by using the conventions of casting the
sterotypical: pretty, sexy blonde girl as well as staring other sexualised females. I intensionally wanted to create a generic pop video but also use mine and Beccy's creativity to make it entropic
and contemporary to todays music industry. Andrew Goodwin argued that a music video was a response to the music so by doing synaesthesia I was able to create a response to our chosen song and as I am a fan of mainstream music I realised that I was influenced by the this as I did not necessarily come up with an initially original idea but how I executed the final video makes it entropic e.g. making it comedic.

Casting for the music video did prove difficult as our video needed specific looking girls, by using Facebook me and Beccy were exposed to a wider range of girls which we could ask to star in our video. From Leanne's feedback I now know the cast choice was good for many reasons such as: Abi who starred as the artist looked appropriate for the role e.g. blonde which actually reflects the original artist Tiffany Queen. The only negative criticism is that Abi at times did not appear confident all put as much effort into the dancing e.g. when gyrating against the male. Sadly as we had little time to film we rushed and I did show Abi what I wanted her to act like e.g. with attitude but she is shy and timid she was always reclusive.

Michael Shore argues that music videos are: recycled styles … surface without substance , image and style scavengers, vanity, adolescent male fantasies, classical storytelling’s motifs, soft-core pornography and clichéd imagery.

1. (0:58 and 1:44 in the video) the energy of the cast could have been more lively. The scene with the girl wrapping/unwrapping the guy with the mic cord just didnt have energy basically meaning acting to the camera cause she has too or cant be bothered, also in that scene the guy just stood there. 1:44 the effort of the "grind" scene was the same as the reason i gave for 0:58.

2. (1:14 to 1:26)
Too many scenes some the same person or thing have been spilt up to much and flash up to quickly for anything to register. Basically the song doesnt fit the video. see lady gaga - pokerface to see that the intro uses the

flicking effect but stays with the same person or style of dress for a length of time, then switch.

3. (2:23 and 2:24 Sorry but wtf) 2:23 why did that guy touch her in that way and that style? and 2:24 why is she peeling a banana? is this soft porn im watching?

4. (3:06 to 3:19) KInda understanding why all the girls were used, but video doesnt really match the song.
5. (3:22) Dont use a scene (where the guy mime what the fuck) like that for that type of song , if it was gangester rap then i would understand!

Overall editing was good to start with (0:37) but phased out in the middle and seemed like you just rearranged and flicking through scene's.

Didnt notice that cast photo, and picture may have been a key point to the video.

I will have to watch again 2mora so i can make a better judgement. However good job :D

I like the message that it's portraying but I don't think the male character suits the role. He seems to nice and a bit femanine really, I would of got someone else who was maybe older and masculine (no offence). it's sexualised so I would say it is aimed at the male audince. A bit more enthusiam probably was needed but I think is the same in a lot of other peoples videos aswell.

The banana is just your A grade right there lol
It's good when you see the lad jump from girl to girl I think that's really clever and the editing for that was really good.

It's a catchy song so I think people will watch the video, its a really good attempt but next time I would use people who wouldn't be to scared or shy about performing for the camera. Xx

Sexy girls dancing relates to everything. Especially music of any genre.

Sophie Griffiths 02 March at 19:35 Reply Report

Because you can see that shes trying to use the male as the sort of character whos a bit of a ladies man and wants a bit of fufu, but he just dosent suit that character. Its just the use of imagination.

It's like in Katy perrys music video, why have her in just skimpy outfits, why have rhianna eat a banana. Sex sells

Nooo you would of suited my music video. A more indie/ rock video would have suited you better.

I think it works! I think maybe the girls could be outdoors as well. Like little love scenes having a picnic. Very sexy :) Well done, i can see why you got an A! X

@Sophie *using the male as the sort of character whos a bit of a ladies man*, but the song lyrics go "hey boy you arnt gotta be alone, get what you got, i got what you want ah ah ah".
Now this confused me cause is it beth thats singing in the mic. So i thought the song was about her singing, i got what you want sooooo be with me etc but in the end she pushes him away to other girls???

and james dont be hard on yourself, remeber this well..... Good guys finish last! (meaning your'll get to pick and choose who you want later on in life, cause girls will coming running to you after they get tired of being fucked about by the "bad boys")
I know its fucked up but girl's clearly dont know whats good for them half the time.

.Ahhh touche, wasnt really listening to the lyrics. It's still a good video, but we were only given a small time scale to film and edit in so that needs to be taken into consideration.

@sophie how could you not listen to the song, it was the main part. With beth singing it and the song playing in the background, you couldnt help but notice :/

and beth i like your like, if that was possible :D

I think it was Abi miming <>

Sophie Griffiths 02 March at 20:33 Reply Report

I was just watching the overall performance, dosent matter about the song. Its the camera work, lip syncing and editing that gets marked.

One moment please..... oooh yeah abi was the singing, and by god! she looks so much like this girl i know :O .
anywho... camera work ok and will get better :)
Lipsyncing - Could have had more effort needed and relax in the performance.
Editing - Very good at the start but too many images flashing up per second in the middle of the vid.

Lucy Beswick 02 March at 20:44 Reply Report

I just think it's averall awesome and i think the girls not including me ofc were really good they're not actresses unfortunately, just Beccy and Stacey's friends...so maybe that's why they weren't perfect in every single detail?

Elliott ͒̊̉͆͗̓̚͏̨̤̲̫̤̝̀ ̶̛̰͓͈̠̤̺̘̠̩̹͜͝ Freshwater 02 March at 20:50 Reply Report

lol Lucy i think your right, but acting isnt hard... you girls manage to fake Orgasm's :D

Sophie Griffiths 02 March at 20:51 Reply Report

Dude actings hard and i do performing arts.

But you boys are only good for one thing and half the time your crap at that so we have to fake.

Elliott ͒̊̉͆͗̓̚͏̨̤̲̫̤̝̀ ̶̛̰͓͈̠̤̺̘̠̩̹͜͝ Freshwater 02 March at 20:57 Reply Report

but half the time we are good, if not great :D

Its like make up, half they time you girls get it right and look great. The other time's.... meh.

Question 2- How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Question 1- In what ways do your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

First draft of beginning of our music video

We filmed the opening sequence before the music video on Thursday, we filmed at Abi's house as me and Beccy thought her bedroom best suited Tiffany's personality and style.

We found the first shoot slightly difficult as we changed Abi's costume until we were satisfied with her appearance because previously we believed she did not reflect Tiffany.

Location

I have spoke to photographer at my work place about me and Beccy using his photography studio to film for our music video. He is allowing us to use it whenever it is free; this means we can organise times and dates when we can start filming.

Issues are arising at the moment such as when we can film parts of our music video due to either me or Beccy working and when the cast are available. To sort this out we are going to contact the cast over Facebook on the event page which we set up a few weeks ago to sort out: times and date.

This studio is perfect for our music video as it has a large backdrop with a choice of white and black colours. There is plenty of lighting: a large window allows in natural light into the studio but also he had six powerful lights available for us to use, this will give us a more professional look to the video if we get perfect lighting, to to this we will simply experiment until we are happy with the outcome. As it is a large studio it allows plenty of movement so we can have dance sequences and experiment with camera angles. There is also plenty of room for more than one person in the frames and props can be present.
Originally we were going to use green screen for our music video but me and Beccy think this will be difficult and time consuming to use for our music video so we thought we would simply using a plain backdrop so that focus is on the girls in the video and no distractions are present. To make the video more entropic we we add text over the clips which is possible to do in Adobe Premiere Pro which will just as effective.
